Masters of Sound DJs is a group of local djs that recognized that the element of soulful and classic house music was missing in Richmond, VA and metropolitan area.
The goal of the group is to bring to the attention of people that house music is a sound, a vibe and a feeling that should be a part of their everyday life.

Although house music can be heard in Richmond, it’s more of an EDM style. For people who love the feel and vibe of soulful and classic house, they must travel north to cities like Washington D.C, Baltimore, Newark, NJ and New York or east to the tidewater area. MoS would like to change that by making Richmond an area where this style of music can be heard on a regular basis and dismiss the need to travel to other cities.

MoS is made up of individuals from the midwest. Members are Tony Drake, Joe Smith (DJ Ojoe) and James Clark. The group was formed in December 2015 and began partnering with establishments looking for something different than hip hop and traditional R&B. Some of the venues performed at are Addis Ethiopian Restaurant, Ibiza Lounge at Torero, Plush, Emilio’s and many more. Individuals of the group have also performed as guest dj on a few radio stations such as WQNA, 804RadioLive and WRIR. In 2018 Tony Fernandez and Doug Smith accepted the invitation to join the team.

In 2016, the group created, sponsored and performed in the RVA Soul House Fest on the grounds of St. Joseph's Villa. RVA SHF is the first annually scheduled outside event for soulful and classic house music in the RVA area.
